Understanding Funeral Arrangements

  Thank you for considering the Kelly Funeral Homes to assist you with funeral planning.

Traditional Funeral

A traditional funeral provides an opportunity for a family to experience the support of their community of friends, relatives and co-workers.

Typically one or more days of visitation time at the funeral home in the presence of the casket (usually 2-5 and 7-9 p.m.). Our interconnecting rooms can accommodate gatherings of all sizes. A private time is scheduled for the family prior to receiving members of their community. A funeral service in a church or funeral home chapel is usually followed by a cortege to the local cemetery or crematorium chapel where a brief service of committal is held.

The components of a traditional funeral include:
  • professional and support staff services for the coordination of arrangements;
  • all required documentation;
  • registration and permits are coordinated as well as the transfer of remains from place of death;
  • assistance with composition of death notices and coordination of publication in local and/or out of town newspaper(s);
  • preparation and/or embalming of the remains in our modern preparation facility;
  • provision of the funeral home, family visiting rooms, complimentary lounges and chapel;
  • family assistance and attendants through the visitation periods;
  • memorial stationery, visitors register, cards to acknowledge acts of kindness and remembrance, after care advisory material and funeral director's proof of death certificates;
  • our fleet of professional cars includes a Cadillac funeral coach, seven passenger Cadillac limousine and cortege escort/clergy car; and
  • the direction of the funeral service, funeral cortege and committal service.

Personalization

Our experienced funeral arrangers encourage the personalization of funerals. Most families make use of our Memory Boards for photos and Memory Tables for precious memorabilia and photo albums, personal achievements or special occasions. The Veterans Funeral often features treasured military medals or regimental regalia. Staff can be most helpful in coordinating protocols of societies, lodges and associations. Our objective is to assist in providing a meaningful funeral experience. Facilities are available for an after funeral reception.

Modified Traditional Funeral

A Modified Traditional Funeral allows for the observance of tradition, however, the visitation time and service will take place the same day.

Memorial Service

A Service in Memory is a gathering of family and friends in the funeral home chapel or family church, usually with an Urn (cremated remains) present. This service includes necessary documentation, and the assistance of our professional and support staff. Additional options are available.

Graveside Service

This may be a private gathering. A Graveside Service includes necessary documentation and the assistance of our professional and support staff.

Casket & Urn Selection

The Kelly Funeral Homes maintain an inventory of funeral merchandise including caskets and urns. Caskets are available in many species of wood, wood veneer, fabric covered and metal. Urns are crafted in wood, stone, cultured marble, bronze, ceramic and aluminum.
